The War has ended. Soviet soldiers are returning home as heroes and everyone is celebrating. But five pilots stationed in Berlin cannot leave just yet. They are panicking. All the pretty girls will be taken by the time they return. Unexpectedly one of the friends, Lyosha Kaverin, is sent on a mission back to the Smolensk region for 24 hours. His friend, Vadim comes up with a cunning plan. He persuades Lyosha to visit a girl who he has been corresponding with, marry her quickly using his (Vadim’s) papers and bring her back legally to Berlin as his wife. The three other friends convince him to find them wives as well using the same ploy. Problem is Lyosha has only one day, a bevy of high-spirited women in tow and a whole heap of major social obstacles to overcome. This is a warm-hearted farce about love in the time of war.
